The Proposal

On 12/12/09 we were in Crystal Lake on Main Beach. The plan was to hang out then go Christmas shopping. (Meagan always needs a plan!) Blake came up with a good idea of setting the camera on a timer to get a cute picture of us: on the lake, sun setting, etc. After a few trials, he pressed the picture button, ran over...and proposed. Hence-the picture. It was perfect and even more perfect that we have a picture to never forget it!

Still waiting.

Yes, it's true. We are still waiting on the news of the house and we only have 5 days to get a signed contract. Maybe if Obama wasn't so involved in other things, he could think about extending the 1st time home buyer rebate...but I won't go into my politics. Blake is a little more nervous than me....I know everything happens for a reason. We will have to rethink the house if we don't get the rebate. Since we aren't getting married for another year, do we really need a mortgage then? Probably not. But that's another bag of worms.

No wedding updates really. We are meeting with photographers soon. I appreciate all the feedback on names of people. Believe it or not, many of them were booked! Then once we pick one, we can do engagement photos! We also have some days we are planning on going to see our DJ to make sure it's who we want...we don't see a problem there.

No new news....

I know-we have heard the question a million times now, we know what you want to ask-What's up with the house?!? No new news, and really, we haven't been going at in any longer then any other short sale. It is out of our control and in God's control. We are turning it over to Him. Everything happens with a purpose and we keep this in mind as we bite our finger nails :)

Just want to share a quick story on how wonderful Blake is to me. He gives more then enough to our relationship and really works at being the man he wants to be. On his day off (last Tuesday) he made phone calls. Yes, everyone, phone calls! I know this will surprise some of you that know the true Blake. But not just any phone calls either: homeowners insurance and ceremony sites. He got us a quote for insurance and had it emailed to us. And inquired on a ceremony site....details to come later :) He went out of his comfort zone to make phone calls he knows little to nothing about. Just the topic of insurance of any kind makes him cringe. I was, and continue to be, impressed by his actions. He is truly wonderful and I do not know what I would do without him. I thank God everyday for Blake.

2 Mortgages...figures....

So good news and bad news on the house. The good news is we have verbal approval from the seller's bank. The bad news is she has two mortgages....so we need the approval from BOTH banks....figures. But that is ok, Blake and I both feel great about everything. And for the tax rebate we only need to have a signed contract by the end of April. 29 days and counting!

We are very slow in picking a ceremony spot for the wedding. We have a few ideas and just have not pursued any of them. Quite frankly, the time needed to do all these things is a little overwhelming and I don't quite have it :) Baby steps....

I started full day of work today and it was great. I couldn't be any happier being back at school with my students. They were ecstatic to have me back as well, at least for now! Blake is going to Arizona to see his mom in just over a week. He deserves a vacation and I'm happy that he gets to go. He is lucky that it doesn't seem like the closing will be that week!

Spending a lot of money on a wedding has been really hard for me. (And it's been minimal so far!) Although we have a tight budget, because I refuse to let it get out of hand, it is so hard to spend the money on one night. I'm continuing to look forward to my wedding day and have to keep that in mind as we go through it all. Plus-we will need to furnish a house soon-that might freak me out the most! Blake is a trooper and is an amazing guy to support me and listen to all my crazy ideas. (I think the craziest might be having his pay check be directly deposited in my account-I figured it was worth asking ;) )

I'm always looking for words of wisdom and anything calming you have to offer....did I mention I'm never going to have the nerve to try on wedding dress..just the thought....
